Ben’s 100% essay thing 100% cool essay
Tonight i will be addressing a target from SDG 2. The target is to end hunger and ensure all people have access to food by 2030. I believe that food should be considered a human right.
"People who are hungry, people who are out of a job are the stuff of which dictatorships are made." -FDR. I believe this quote relates to the below because there are currently many in the US who are under those circumstances, either due to the pandemic or other concerns. The reason we are doing this action project is to identify something that needs to be fixed. The name of this course is SDGs and you and it is for teaching me of the united nation’s goals to make everything not bad. In this course i learned about life in places less fortunate than the US. I went on some fun feild experiences, that enhanced my learning by putting me in the place of other people. You are about to read why I believe that food should be considered a human right in every country.
We should do this For a couple reasons, actually. First of all, adequate food is part of the UN declaration of human rights The UN declaration of human rights is a document that was signed by most countries after ww2 (this includes the US), that basically states ‘alright, these are things that all countries ever should do because it benefits the people living there’.Another reason, about 38 million people are without adequate food in the USA that’s about 12 percent of the US population If these people dont eat, the consequences could be awful, eating is, along with water, the backbone of human life and existence.Upon this, if we don't implement reforms that give food, as FDR said, there will likely be a rise in extremist politics (amplified by what we have already experienced from covid and related matters). As many of you know, in the USA there is no right to food.
I think we should begin by economic reforms that give more to the less fortunate, and take more from those who do not need it. The government could use the extra money to expand food stamps and welfare programs, and to send less monetary aid to Israel. As per an example of a wealth tax, France has had a solidarity tax on the wealthy from 2011-2017 that ended up collecting just over 4 billion dollars On the other hand, Ukraine is a country that already has food as a human right in its constitution. In addition to this, their starvation rates are much lower than that of the states with the number being 3.50%.
What if we dont. However, what we can count on, is that there will be people who live in agony because they cannot afford the necessity of food. I will again draw an example from Ukraine. In 1933, Ukraine experienced a man made famine known as the holodomor, which killed around 3.5 million people. The fact that this famine was caused by russia mostly set the relations between Ukraine and Russia after the demise of the USSR. That is, Russia has succeeded in annexing part of Ukraine and is currently supporting pro-Russian terrorists in Donetsk.
CONCLUSION
food is very important for human life, the lack of it could result in the rise of extremist politics and large famine, and with the amount of people who are gonna be evicted from their houses, we might see results soon enough. That’s why i think we should begin reforms as soon as possible to negate the damage. I enjoyed learning about how other countries deal with food crises in this unit. It was challenging to write this essay, however i overcame it. I wouldnt have done anything differently other than changing how we’re allowed to cite sources, but there’s probably a law about that somewhere.
