Water filter action project

Since I last posted about water class, lots of stuff has happened. I saw a duck, and a snake. I think it might have been the first time i saw a snake in the wild. And I learned about logarithms. Also, I went on a bike for the first time in five years at big marsh. The seat really hurt. I learned a lesson or two about what to wear when on a bike (hint hint: not sandals)

Anyway, the action project 2 consists of building a water filter. I plan on using a cup with sand in it. The water would pass through the sand, the sand removing most things that you wouldn’t want to drink. The sand is very small and should work as a filter. Here’s a sketch of what i am going to attempt to do:

The materials i plan to use consist of: a bottle, some gravel, some sand, possibly some small rocks, a rubber band, scissors (to be used for cutting the bottle), and dirty water. I plan to make it by cutting a bottle in half, and wrapping a cloth over it’s top with a rubber band. When i have this, I’ll stick the top of the bottle in the bottom of the bottle upside down, and fill it with sand and gravel.

This is the water I’m gonna filter, i got the dirt from just outside. It has a GH of 0 ppm, a ph of 7.5, and 0 no2 ppm

These are my filtering mechanisms, as it showed in the drawing, I’ve an overturned bottle with sand and gravel and a cloth, i held on the cloth with a rubber band.

This is the water after i filtered it, it’s kind of hard to see because of the lighting. I would call this a victory. It’s got a no2 of 0 ppm, a ph of 7.5, and a gh of 180 ppm.
