This I believe podcast

For this AP we had to make a podcast  and talk about something we believed in. I chose to talk about my political beliefs

Here’s what i ended up making:

Here’s the transcript:

There was once a time where I had faith in the Democratic Party to actually be able to fix the country if biden won the election. After Biden won, I found that it wasn't that simple. I lost faith in the Democratic Party after Biden's victory, because it no longer felt united. After biden won, he couldn’t pass much legislation or had to significantly lessen their weight because he wasn't able to crack the two-thirds majority otherwise. I feel like now would be a good time to end the two party system.

I was born into the privilege of being an upper middle class, straight, white, cisgendered male, but that doesn't do much for the economy or other people. My own definition of truth is what is certain to be correct, dispite what might be said..

I’m socialist in the economic and social sense, and I believe neoliberalism has failed due to its inability to combat the climate crisis, and I find myself socialist because of the conservative and anti socialist mindset manifesting itself in most of the US government being unable to fix the pandemic, the jobs crisis, or the shrinking middle class.

I feel like I was forced into believing in the socialist system by the politicians I opposed and were supposed to represent me. I learned about all the horrible things that happened behind the scenes, like all of our economic aid to Israel’s apartheid regime and the drone strikes in Pakistan killing hundreds of civilians. From most presidents Reagan to Biden, it feels like the only thing that changed was the color of their ties. They all took lobby money to not make our lives easier, so companies can profit off of making our lives easier. Healthcare still isn’t free, and the climate hasn’t stopped deteriorating.

In summary, I feel discontented with the US political system having two meaningless parties in charge of governing the country, who are being lobbied into doing nothing so we can all reap the punishment of global warming consequences in around 40 years. I’m not fond of capitalism because I don't have any ‘good old days’ to reminisce on.
